About Kashia Elementary School
The Kashia Elementary School District is a one room school house educating grades K-8. Our student numbers average 10 - 14 students. All of the students are Kashaya Pomo and live on the reservation, which is next to the school. There is one classroom building with a small kitchen and library/small group study room as well as the main classroom. There is one teacher, the “lead teacher” and a full day classroom aide five days a week. A Kashaya language teacher comes four days a week and gives instruction to the students. Special education is handled by a consultant and a part time special education aide. The school owns a van, which is used to take field trips during the school year as well as to transport graduates of Kashia Elemetary to their continuing education at Point Arena High School or Charter School (approximately 45 minutes from the Kashia Reservation). Administration duties are handled by a part-time superintendent/principal and a part-time business manager who work out of their home offices.
